Hello! My name is Tanmay Agrawal and I’m currently pursuing my doctoral studies at IIT Delhi under the supervision of Prof. Narsing K. Jha and Prof. Vamsi K. Chalamalla. I work in the broad area of fluid dynamics which encompasses understanding the nature of fluid flows through experimental and computational measures. My PhD thesis aims to enhance the effectiveness of air curtains which are generally installed in shopping complexes, restaurants, food cabinets etc.

Latest research

Stratified flows

Isopycnal of a gravity current propagating in a stratified medium

We are numerically investigating the dynamics of gravity currents being formed in a stratified ambient.

Air curtain flows

Air curtains simulated using 2D RANS in Ansys Fluent

Numerical simulations and experiments are underway to understand the fluid dynamics in air curtains.

Gravity currents

Gravity current formed using a lock-exchange setup configured in SOMAR-LES

Using the in-house LES solver, SOMAR, gravity currents are being simulated for stratification being generated using saline and thermal agents.
